Yes, obviously faster and tripod mounted is better for HDR. However, if you are going to the trouble of setting that up, I think you would use the more extensive exposure bracketing features and decent software to process the result.

I don't think that the reduced FPS of the silent shutter is all that significant in this (not unless you have very unsteady hands or you are trying to shoot something moving...). HDR images that were unusable from in camera generally processed just fine on a PC (from the original RAW files) without alignment problems or any special tweaking.

I think that the problem is that it is still just too hard to do in-camera image alignment without taking forever and burning half the battery life. On a PC, you don't have these limitations.
