Banding in the 1000 Lire note in DPR widget
Aug 3, 2012

I've noticed that Nikon cameras tend to reproduce the diagonal yellow banding in the 1000 lire note in the DPR studio comparison widget. The Nikon V1, D700, D800E, and a few other cameras reproduce it, while most others don't at all, even in RAW mode. In the V1, it's quite pronounced.

The Canon G12 reproduces it to a slight degree. Examining this note online from another source, the banding is clearly evident, so I assume it's really there.

Even in other high resolution cameras, like the 5DMkIII and the Sony NEX7, it's invisible.

Is it because Nikon likes yellow so much?

If it's being "processed out" as an artifact, why don't other cameras show it in their RAW files?

Can anyone shed some light on this?
