G1X viewfinder, really!

I've had my G1X for a few months now, replacing a a Powershot Pro 1 with its EVF. I have to say I love the image quality of the G1X but miss the view finder of the Pro 1. I'm in the middle of a three month trip through Asia, Europe and the US so have experienced various light conditions. I prefer to shoot with the EVF with all of its information. It's much better in strong sunlight. Where I live on the west coast of Australia the summer sun is extremely bright and that can make the screen almost useless. Also, if you wear polaroid sunglasses they can blacken the screen if you try to shoot portrait.
