There is a possibility your flash is compensating for the full-frame sensor, but I would be suspicious that it has that much intelligence built it. If the flash was designed for zoom ratings on a crop sensor, it would need to be wider on a full-frame.

Regardless, I think you're better off with a Canon version. The 480s are just fine, too and you might be able to pick up a reasonable used model from someone who is trading up to the 600-RT version.
