The best is to have one pro body plus the latest lenses. You can pick up a second hand latest body at a cheaper cost after a few months, if you need a second body.

If you need bragging rights, then buy the latest camera. Though I am using the word you, it is a general comment. I find people who are insecure, they crave for the latest camera just to show off and also thinking that the latest camera will get them jobs. Clients don't give a damn about which camera you use. Most of them don't even know.
