I have seen these "stars" before. Set ISO to more than 1000, take a picture with the lens cap on, and then apply auto-level to the picture. Basically they are "warm pixels" which are so weak that they are not removed by the NR.

Might be dust in the lens?

With the clear pic of the moon it seems to be quite fast shutter speed, not long enough to generate hot pixel effect. Then we have also seen many long (very long) exposures from Xpro, and nobody mentioned hot pixel.
