What is the useful life of a Leica camera?

I received a letter in the mail from Leica camera in New Jersey about the camera repair. "we are sending this to Germany." Anyone who has dealt with Germany in August knows the whole country shuts down for vacation. Looks like 2 to 3 months with no Leica!
