New A77 owner with macro ringflash problem

I have had a search around but not found the answer so far. My MFC-1000 macro flash only seems to be at 1/60s which isn't as fast as it was on my A700 which was 1/125s.

I have turned off front curtain shutter as with that on the flash wouldn't work at all.

Anyone have this problem or a solution? I don't want to shoot in manual mode, I am almost always shooting in Aperture priority.
