When I bought my K-30 I was seriously considering the 18-135 for the SDM and the range of focal lengths. Unfortunately I saw the tests at Photozone with the abysmal border and corner performance and I went with an 18-55 WR and have just added the 16-45 f4 AL, the latter of which I think is great, aside from the lack of SDM motor.

I personally don't know why you'd want to trade a constant aperture (f4) variable aperture zoom (f3.5-5.6) for a few more mm at the long end.

One really nice thing is that the 17-70 f4 seems to perform really well wide open.

Also, if you are doubtful of Photozone's MTF tests of the 18-135, have a look at DPR's K-30 sample images with that lens (K-30 Preview). Soft left side issues, corner issues. Knowing DPR, and judging by their stubborn insistance on keeping a subpar 18-55 VR copy mounted on the D3200 in their review, and consequently concluding that the D3200 was a flawed camera (even though the whole point of a DSLR is their ability to mount a variety of lenses of varying quality on them), they will shoot the whole K-30 review with the 18-135 mounted and give the K-30 a terrible score, awful review, with a conclusion where they recommend a crappy m43 camera. And won't that be a pity as the K-30 is a wonderful camera.

Anyway, if I were you I'd think long and hard about selling your 17-70 f4, and if you do, you might simply add a couple of hundred dollars to the money you get for it, and buy a 16-50 2.8 or maybe even a Sigma 17-50 2.8. Good luck.
