Can GH2 firmware V 1.1 be removed?

After seeing the astronomical prices for the Panasonic Battery - some as high as £73
I bought some compats. BUT firmware V1.1 will not accept them.
Can V.1.1 be removed and if so is V1.0 still there?

Or, is there a compat battery which has the chip - just like compat ink cartridges?
