Olympics - what is the reality regarding getting cameras in?

I've seen the official notification limiting camera gear to 30cm. I've also seen the statements that Wembley Stadium will not allow any exchangable lens cameras in.

I have seen a few threads on here interpreting these rules.

But, has anyone got any REAL, FIRST HAND experience of successfully taking an SLR in to the 2012 Olympic events, particularly at the Olympic park?

I will be attending the diving competition and want to take my 5D with 70-200 lens, but don't want to have these confiscated. I'm already resigned that I can't take them to wembley to see the football, but I would like to be able to get something at the diving.
