Manual focus

It is the only way to use a small sensor camera (with no phase detection focus) for fast moving objects around you.

In good light you can set a higher number of aperture (about 5.6), set the focus distance or even the hyperfocal point and stop worrying about focus. An even smaller sensor (than RX100) camera could do the job in very good light.

G'day folks, I'm new to all this, but would very much appropriate some advice.

Retiring very soon and my main priority is finding a camera for my fast moving Grand Children. I have my sights on the compact RX100, do you think it has what it takes to handle the job. Many thanks in advance for any valuable comments.
