Most reasonable lenses used around f8-11 and not shooting into the light can produce very good 16x12 images from 12 MP, and bigger images that look OK viewed at about 15 inches from 36 MP.

This aside the best lenses at their "sweet spot" apertures in good quality light can produce the highest quality images.

Whether you need the highest quality image is another topic - especially for web images where the file size is often under 1 MB.

Many problems turn out to be a lack of intimate knowledge of complex modern camera equipment.
