I used ACR 6.7/CS5. In LR4 the exposure slider was changed from LR3; I've read it's no longer a straight exposure adjustment (across the full tonal range) but instead a targeted adjustment for only part of the tone curve. It doesn't really matter though - the exposure difference is pretty obvious to the eye. So you tried the experiment and see the expected exposure difference between f/2.8 and f/4.0?
