I much prefer the full frame look. FX has a wider view with shallower depth of field than you can get on DX.
In high ISO, the d800 will win, and same for dynamic range. D800 wins for autofocus ability too - in both accuracy with fast lenses and the speed/tracking of moving subjects.
But if you're shooting at ISO100, f5.6 in broad daylight all the time, there's probably not much difference to make it worth the price gap.
Part of it is about the experience too. The D800 is also much nicer to use. Larger, brighter viewfinder, more dedicated buttons, larger body, better build quality etc.
