I had this situation which came about because I asked if I could photograph some of the new high tec robotic installations in our plant just for my own fun. Large compayn, Siemens so we aren't talkig mom and pop here. They allowed me in and then wanted to see what I had done and then the fascilities manager wanted to see what I had done, I think just to cover his butt. He said wow and said I should show my work to someone in another bulding who was in marketing. Long and short of it we developed a supplier customer relationship seperate from my Quality technicians job. All issue where discussed up front and for 12 years I had amazing photographic opportunities with one of the best companies in the world. I knew the product and told them right up front that I would never undercut proffesional rates. My best gig, $1600 a day plus expenses photographing their automotive electic motor plants in Altlanta, London Ontario, LaSuze France, Wurtzburg Germnany and Shanghai China in 8 days around the world tour. I took 5 vacation days and 3 days leave of absence. If you are up front your biggest issue will be other employees who think you are getting paid extra. Be up front, be proffesional and don't let your primary responsibilities conflict.
