Nikon diopters are marked based on the FINAL viewfinder diopter, not the diopter lens strength. Yeah—this is pretty dumb. Basically, without a correction lens, the Nikon vf system was set to a +1, so if you wanted a -2, you'd need to order a Nikon -3.
