Why can't I get pictures out of my 60D as good as a Sony A450

I had a chance to compare 7D with A57, I know they are from different leagues in terms of build and number of tweaks, but nevertheless I find IQ is very close with Sony even has some edge. I must say A57 feels way faster than 7D, AF speed is similar, but shutter lag is 3 times shorter - I can tell.

Here are some photos I made for comparison, all shot in RAW and converted to Jpeg via iPhoto with standard settings, except for shots with sky where Canon overexposed by about a stop, so I adjusted exposure, pulled some highlights and increased contrast.

Sony by default has slightly higher saturation, especially visible on photos with sky.

Note how washed out and soft is 7D photo with a painting at 100% - A57 definitely beats Canon here.
7D had 50mm 1.4 lens, A57 - 50mm 1.8.
Sony files start with dec_, Canon's with img_, enjoy.
