E-M5 v. GH2: Higlight recover is sooo much better on E-M5 samples
Jul 27, 2012

Since getting the E-M5 I've been doing a number of posts on my own blog which a number of people have found and some comparisons with my GH2, typically switching my Oly 14-54 back and forth as a constant. Probably for most on this site, the information is a bit behind the curve but when I first got the E-M5 very few others had one yet.

Anyway, I am posting tonight because I just completed an analysis about the highlight recover on both cameras and found it astonishing (though we all have read that the E-M5 is better, which it is).

If interested you can read my entire post comparing base case shots, 1 EV overexposed shots, and 2 EV overexposed shots here:

But below is just the comparison of highlight recover at 2 stops overexposed:

First: Oly on left, pany on right. 2 stops overexposed in RAW before post processing:

Second: Here they are after post processing. WOW! What a difference between the two.
