This hot shoe is just what I've been looking for! Thinking of it with either the Yongnuo YN560-ii or YN460-ii.

You can turn off "Live View" in the settings menu if the lcd screen is getting to dark to compose. The LCD screen will then always be on (bright), and not change to exposure settings.
