Opinions on AZDEN SGM-2X Pro Shotgun Microphone?

I will be recording some video diaries in a controlled location. I'll be able to position it close to the actor (either above or below). I was thinking of getting a 25 foot cable and connecting it to a cord that connects the SGM's XLR to my DSLR's mini jack.

Do you think this would be a good option? I just bought the ME-1 but it seemed like it picks up some pretty bad noise compared to the SGM.

Is there another option in the price range I should be considering?
