Getting VR lens help if you are not using a tripod or shoot at higher iso at 800 with higher speed. To avoid swaying, brace yourself against any stable object like wrapping your arms around a tree. If there are any handshake blur just downsample the final output to hide it. The D800e is a fantastic walkabout cam. Glad I brought it with me on a trip to Bali last week along with my 21mm CZ, 50mm/1.2 and 24-120 VRII. The 24-120 VRII is most versatile that it was on my camera most of the time. My friend has the 28-300vr and the 14-24/2.8 and has to change lenses quite a bit.
