No doubt about that.

And PDAF on sensor is a whole lot less expensive to make than any moving mirror setup.

Yeah, for sure. It's certainly the way to go if it can be made to perform as well as conventional PD AF. That's the elegant "best of both worlds".

This proposed design is necessitated by the allegedly horrid EVF.
