hating the new safari--downgrade?

I stupidly went ahead and did the Safari update that was posted today and I just absolutely hate it, because of the way the google search is now combined with the URL bar. That means that you can no longer type only the first part of a URL and let safari fill in the .com part--if I type dpreview, for example, instead of dpreview.com I get the google search page for dpreview.

Is there a way to downgrade back to the previous version? I didn't upgrade to mountain lion, still running 10.7.
