The OP was wrong on both counts.

The camera is to be pointing down, and orthogonal to the floor. He could have gotten away with "parallel" if he had said that the sensor was to be parallel to the floor.

Beyond that, I'm not sure how he is going to shoot glass negatives on the floor without back lighting. Perhaps the flatbed scanner was the best suggestion.
