How so? The lens is Sigma's, it does not have SDM but HSM.
Are you trying to blame Pentax for the Sigma's malfunction?

You need to downgrade your FW to a pre-SDM version:

That would disable the AF with any (working) Sigma HSM lens. Great advice!
