And besides, in reality...Damascus would NOT be completely destroyed anyways...not in a nuke strike, nor a modern day war scenario.

Really? We'll just have to wait and see.

Have YOU ever actually taken a detailed look at a map of the region?

Damascus is just a short 44 miles from the northern Israeli town of Kyrat Shmona, and there are many Israel kibbutzim even closer than that.

IF Israel were to use nuclear weapons against Syrian forces...they are most probably going to be the smaller 'tactical' warheads...designed to kill ground troop battalions, and take out armoured units, etc - and not to create enormous urban & civillian devastation.

Israel could not risk using large inter-ballistic style NUKES...simply because the fallout would be a threat to it's own people as the closest border area is less than 40 miles away.

This kind of operation would be applicable to places like Tehran...which is almost 1,000 miles from Israel....but never in the close proximity of which we are discussing here.

Also, the Lebanese border with Syria is just a mere 14 miles from Damascus, so lot's of Lebanese civillians would die too.

Your fantasy of a completely annihilated Damascus is logistically and demographically ridiculous. Damascus is a large city area with a metropolis of 2.6 million people and covers more than 40 sq miles. The huge amount of destruction it would require to carry out what you speak of...would not only devastate the city itself...but large areas of surrounding territory also - including Israel.

The environmental contiamination/fallout, and all the rest of it...would exist for decades.

IF you really believe that the GOVT (or people) of Israel have any desire to wipe out 2 million Syrians - you are out of your mind.

The implications are just not worth thinking about.
