That might be true in general, but DPP used to do this so perfectly (without halos or noise) that you would never need to first resize for web and then open it somewhere else and sharpen it. With my 5D, just crank Sharpen to 7-8, batch process to 900x600 or something, compression 4 and you're done. But now Canon broke this because images are hardly sharp anymore no matter what sharpness was applied and was visible on the full image.
