My D800 came back fixed 1 week ago from El Segundo.
Symptoms were exactly as you showed. While left and right AF points are not quite as sharp as middle (50mm @ f1.8), it is close enough, so that when stopped down a little, I don't have to worry about it anymore. The AF looks on much quicker, and I don't need a Sheperd approved target to do so.
