I am completely at a loss why would this be preferable to having PD-AF sensors on the main sensor (a la Nikon 1 or, IIUC, Canon's new mirrorless EOS)? Why go to all the trouble if one can get rid of mirror completely? Especially long-term, with EVFs continuously improving?
