The 100-400, with its framing flexibility, is very good for filming. You can add a 2x TC for a range of 100-800 mm and video quality will still be very good (plus a TC mitigates moire/artifacts). The IS mode 2 helps stabilize panning shots.
Note though that filming will be manual focus.
