X100 - still the best 'under £600' for street?

I currently have a 5Dii and use a 50mm prime for my street stuff. Needless to say it is heavy, so I'm thinking I want a fast, light, small camera for street work that must produce good results (and if it can do that in low-light too, even better). Perhaps most importantly the shutter must close the moment I press. I can't be dealing with any shutter lag (or at least anything slower than my 5Dii). I appreciate posting this question in this forum may be asking for biased views but I'm interested to hear from you.
I can just about stretch to £600, which is the current price of the X100 and I'm wondering if this is my solution to my street quandary. I have no problem with a fixed 35mm.
I've been playing with an old but excellent Oly RC35 film rangefinder and love the size and feel. Whilst I appreciate the X100 is bigger, using the Oly has made me realise I need a digital version of it for street.
Is the X100 the answer?
Does it still have this shutter sticking problem?
Are there other alternatives?
