Sorry, but the harsh reality is that people generally stick to a particular brand from camera to camera. I know plenty of people who, for example, keep buying Canon P&S cameras, simply because they are familiar with Canon, like Canon, and would just as well stick to Canon, even though they aren't locked in to these cameras because they are all stand-alone, non-system cameras. Likewise, there are people who do the same with Sony cameras. And Olympus cameras. And Nikon cameras. This is what most people do. The reality is that most consumers aren't pouring over specs sheets and image samples, making point-by-point comparisons of various models and various brands because, frankly, it's a pain in the butt to do for most people. There's just something in human psychology that compels most people to stick with what is familiar, and that means sticking with brands that they are familiar with. Obviously, not everyone is going to just stick to a particular brand simply out of familiarity and comfort, but I'm saying that most people do that.
