I've shot RAW since 2006 or so. RARELY will I ever shoot JPG, even with sports images. I consider processing essential for my completed images. It's not that I have lots of time but rather the images simply turn out better when fully processed using as much of the digital file as possible. JPEG simply doesn't have the latitude of a RAW image.

But, it is a personal choice. For most of us, this is a hobby and we do photography to have fun and escape. Above are my reasons for shooting RAW but they are no more valid than the someone who likes to shoot JPEG and doesn't care for post processing.

OK, not so purely a hobby.
