HTP is for not clipping highlights (buy under exposing a stop then readjusting the tone curve, in effect shooting a stop less , or half the ISO) and while I understand it's implementation might raise noise levels in the DARK shadows, it should not, under any circumstance, raise noise in the mid tones AND introduce banding across the shop, as it's doing now.

Noise at 400 with HTP off is the same as '200' with HTP on - both very respectable low iso levels which should not introduce banding. anywhere. any time. ever. (pentax, sony, nikon, panasonic and Olympus do not share this feature - I own them ALL so know first-hand)

Hence I will swap the body tomorrow, and hopefully this nonsense will vanish.
