Can you go wrong with a "new" lens for less than $20????

No experience with Canon FD, but I find 50mm Konica MF lenses with an adapter to be well worth the modest cost; 50mm makes a great portrait lens in MFT.
Real danger to avoid is spending too much time hunting for cheap lenses on eBay and ending up w/ too large a collection....
For less than $20, how far wrong can you go?
