Phil,

There are some great places in Maine. If you like little seaports and lobster ports, Rockport, Rockland, Camden, and Belfast are nice. If you will be looking for a place to stay before you get to Bar Harbor, Strawberry Hill Inn (between Rockland and Camden) is a great motel with a lovely view of the bay and has some good accomodations at a reasonable price. All of these are on or just off Highway 1 - the more scenic route than I-95/295.

There is a state park just north of Camden that offers some beautiful views of Camden and the bay - there is a small admission fee, but it is a lovely view up on the hill (some might call it a mountain).

Enjoy the trip - we love that area of the country.
