I'd add a bit more info is required. Scn and Art modes can take over the settings one thinks they have in effect. It's best to test this with a Natural, Vivid, or Mono Picture style, Tv mode as you said, with a specific ISO set, no AEL in effect, and the metering mode should be noted. Basically, use the camera most basically, and go from there.

Not knowing the conditions you find this to occur it's also not easy to remotely diagnose (last night in the living room? or at the beach? day? night?).
