G5 actually looks pretty neat. SLIGHTLY wider (4mm) than the G3, but most of the missing features from the G3 that the G2 had. Looks comfy to hold. I'm not a fan of the swivel screen, potato, potahto, I suppose.

The LX7 is really lamentable, though. One of the nice things about the LX5 was that it was CCD , and as such didn't suffer with Rolling Shutter like all other CMOS cameras do. That was its saving feature for keeping it for me. An f1.4 lens, though, that'd be nice!

Also, wonder if the LX7 has the same EVF as the GX-1 now. Since I just picked up one, that could be handy.

Edit: I'm calling this one.

  • The LX7 uses the same 1/1.7 SIZE sensor (probably CMOS, sigh) as the LX5. If it is BSI, all the better.

  • It also uses the same EVF as the G3/GX1 (nice!).

  • It ALSO has an ND filter for doing waterfalls and the like during bright day shots (see back - what else can ND be??)

  • It is also approximately the SAME size as the LX5, likely the same weight, too.

  • Price? Of course it'll be $499, Panasonic being Panasonic.

Overall, I'm liking the combo of the G5 & LX7.
