I was under the impression that both El Segundo and Melville had recently received the new software and procedure for recalibrating the AF points and updating the EEPROM. I can understand multiple repair attempts before this procedure as the techs were pretty much left to tinker on their own with no guidance from Nikon. However, it's odd that multiple repairs would be required if your repair is recent.

I need some advice. I just received my D800 back from El Segundo for the second time, the AF on the camera is now worse then the first time I sent it there. I really don't know what to do. I called the 1-800 # and they were nice and are asking me to ship it back for a third time. Good news though...they are going to pay for shipping this time!
I've been without my new D800 for a month and a half and it still doesn't work properly. Does anyone ave any advice? Will Nikon refund my money? The guy on the phone did say this is a big problem and I'm not the only one with multiple failed attempts but the only way to fix it is to send it back.
I'm out of words....broken and bewildered....
