HummingBird Moth shots
Nice shots of the moth. I'm fairly certain that this is a Slender Clearwing moth. Very difficult to shoot. I missed one about 2 weeks ago. They look like bees in flight.
One minor tip (if I may)...
With my D300, when shooting nectaring insects in mixed lighting extremes (bright flowers), I normally use matrix metering, under expose by 1/3 or 2/3 stops - even with a circular polarizer. At times I even go under by a full stop if the subject is in bright sunlight. It much easier (for me at least) to deal with under exposure in post as opposed to not being able to recover the blown out highlights.
Keep up the good work.
