Call me a sandbagger....

So who should get first place, the one whose image most looks like one shot by H C-B?

(btw, I hate seeing Henri Cartier-Bresson referred to as "Bresson" almost as much as if he were being called "dude" ;))

What's the point of these challenges that call for people in 2012 to emulate someone who developed his style in 1932? And why is no one hosting challenges in the style of Harry Callahan, Walker Evans or Imogen Cunningham? Personally, I'd prefer using Andreas Gursky or Thomas Struth as my role models.

But the point is no one can be "taught" how to shoot like another photographer. They can only be taught to properly use a camera. Then they have to learn to "see", and to shoot what they see in an honest way.

Or they can imitate, which after spending much time & money, many are forced to do.
