That's a bit of a personal call as it depends on your own threshold for noise. I'd say 1600 is fine, but that said, if you need the shutter speed it's more important to take the hit on noise and apply careful noise reduction ( from RAW ).

As I am not using Photoshop and keeping my pictures as JPEG only I'd rather stay on lower ISO
