Short comments about the 5D MK III

Some short comments after one and a half day use of the 5D MK III.

I am a double system user but I was very excited to test the 5D after I had the D800E in a month now… (I had a 5D MK II before what I sold already…)

I do not want to talk about the physical things of this camera because many have already discussed this. Anyhow the feel of the camera with the BG-E11 is very good.

The first pleasant surprise was how responsive the AF is. It is at least as fast as my MK IV… The 5D though is more accurate! The low light AF is in a whole different class! (It is actually better than on my D 800E…) None of my lenses needed any AF micro adjustment at all! “Tailoring the AF” will be a nice job for the future though… Extremely high end system with a lot of variables to control… In comparison with the MK IV the spot AF is God send!!! The C 1-3 custom functions dial is unfortunately missing on the MK IV and the D 800E is far away in the ease of changing to different shooting styles… Picture quality… So far very satisfied! I was afraid about the lot of discussed shadow details and DR things… It is definitely better than I thought it was… (I have to do more tests in this respect…) I do not mind that the file size is a bit smaller that the D 800E… The resolution is high enough for me for the everyday work! All in all I am positively surprised! To work with this camera is easy and inspiring! I will test it soon for tennis photography even if it is not a “sport camera”…

Here are some first mostly high ISO pictures. I do not care about some “grain” and I do not wanted to use any noise reduction than the standard one in PS6. Thank you for watching!
