I have to say more and more I take L-L reviews with a grain of salt. They seem slightly over the top at times.

The Rollei 35 had no built-in focusing mechanism (you had to guess and then set the lens distance), and a needle match meter. It was the smallest game in town, and that's what set it apart, not features.

There were any number of smallish 35mm with autofocus and zoom lenses through the 90s, by all camera makers (some even excellent- Nikons, Konica Lexio 70..) that more clearly compare with this new Sony. If anything something that has been out for awhile, like the sigma DP, is more akin to the Rollei.

Anymore camera reviewers seem to be compelled to dredge out some camera from the past to compare the latest vendor consumer product to. There is a very weird halo vibe they seem to think is important, and it's almost as though this is scripted by those with a certain interest. Like gratuitous swings at a competitor's product in a completely different segment (OM -D battery).

Subjective reviews increasingly seem like infomercials.
