Be little careful with the term “Bridge Camera”. In my opinion, super zooms don’t really bridge “Point and Shoots” to DSLRs. Also, you mentioned indoor sports as being a regular shooting task that you wish to accomplish. Indoor sports are fairly demanding, needing wide apertures, and high ISO performance. I would really give this some thought. You might not be happy with any superzoom. Also there are “many” threads on the SX40 and SX30 dating back over a year. Most of these threads are filed with samples. It might be worth your time to search “Canon Talk” for the term SX40. I am a very happy owner of an SX40, but it has its limits just as any Point and Shoot. You need to do your home work. (-:
