I turned the back wheel but nothing changed. Maybe I will try it in better lighting conditions (as suggested above). What gets me is that the manual says it is by default off but i just can't find the menu option to change the setting (whether for off to on or on to off).

To my knowledge, I did not change anything in the menu to use flexible P. just use the back dial (the one that you use your thumb) and it will change to whatever combination you want it to.
