m43 owner getting a compact camera for my wife. Any advice?

Hello all,

My wife and kids are going to Japan tomorrow and I need to upgrade her camera. Although I have a m43 with 5 different lenses, the m43 is too complicated for here. I want her to get a decent high end compact camera so that I can potentially use it as a second camera for my m43. Which camera would you recommend.

1. Cybershot DSC-RX100 : Although I want it, it is too expensive for me. I rather buy another lens for my m43
2. PowerShot S100
3. Coolpix p310
4. Olympus Tough TG-1
5. Olympus XZ-1
6. Canon PowerShot G1X : too big and expensive

I am thinking of getting PowerShot S100

• not too expensive

• looks easy to operate for my wife.

• I can have fun with manual settings.

• very small and stylish to carry for my wife

• large-ish sensor 1/1.7 inch CMOS

• Upto ISO 6400

I do understand that the new LX-5 and XZ-1 is coming in the next few months but I need to get her a camera early next week.

What do you guys think?
