If you have access to Photoshop try this...

1) open up a CR2 file (jpeg doesn't work)

2) File -> File Info

3) When the box pops up go to the "Advanced" tab

4) Click on "Schema" to expand the menu

5) Look at "aux;ImageNumber;"

The numerical value in this field is your shutter count.

Hello everyone,

just received my brand new 5D3 from B&H Photo, put on a lens, inserted the battery, switched on and went to http://eoscount.com/ to check the shutter count and it read over 6000+ actuation's! I was hoping this would be an error so I then took 2 shots (without a card in the camera), checked again and the count had unfortunately risen accurately by 2 over the already 6000+ actuation's!

Before I contact B&H, I presume this is not an acceptable count and is http://eoscount.com/ typically pretty accurate in the opinion of those who have used it? The camera did look in decent condition, but over 6000 actuation's is obviously a concern.
All thoughts/comments welcome with much thanks.
