Tamron "Legacy" SP 90mm f/2.5 Macro Is A Winner!
Jul 12, 2012

After reading great things about the Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 macro lens, I purchased one in almost mint condition, from an eBay seller. That has turned out to be one of the best acquisitions, since deciding to go with the NEX System.

The lens is amazingly sharp and color rendition is SPOT-on. It is, of course, manual focus only, but I usually do that anyway with macro images. The basic lens provides a 1:2 ratio. But, I also purchased the matching Tamron extension tube, which when used with the lens, provides 1:1 magnification.

If you can find one of these lenses (they are reasonably common), do yourself a favor and buy it. You will not be sorry! The link below shows an example of the results you can get. This particular image was made, using only the basic lens, without the extension tube. By the way, it's also a GREAT portrait lens!
